The #191 HGUC RX-78-2 revive

I had recently purchased the HGUC Revive RX-78-2 Gundam from Banzai Hobby. It is part of BANDAI’s new revive Gunpla kit line. It is a line where BANDAI reworks an older kit to update it. This lines 1st kit was the Guncanon. I do not have one yet. But I might get one the future. The build for this kit is pretty simple, it does not have many runners. It has 4 total and the usual polycaps.

The Chest goes together pretty easily. One of the changes I did notice was how the the polycap pieces went in on the model. Instead of having the end parts attach to the chest piece horizontally. The parts actually go in with the socket part facing down. That grey part in the middle you see there is where the round polycap is attached. The waist section actually connects to it with a pole that fits in there pretty well.

The back pack is pretty simple to assemble.

It is one piece. Just add thrusters and beam sabers.

The chest is all together. I do like the look of it. It looks nothing like the G30th or the RG which is pretty cool. It also gives me an excuse to buy either one of those still, lol.

The arms are interesting in the fact they do not have any polycaps in them really. Most the armor goes on around that inner section of the arm. Then hand goes in the at the end of it.

The leg is assembled in a way that it does end up having very little seams on it. It is not as interesting as the arm body section was. But once I got it together it felt pretty solid.

The waist area is pretty much like any HG waist I put together so far. So I do the usual HG Skirt Split cause it all one part. I will have to paint the yellow area of the all red crotch. Not using that sticker. The back skirt is two pieces but it does not move any way.

The number hands that come with this kit is pretty cool. I’m liking the open hands. Pose ideas… may be…..

The Beam Rifle is pretty simple too. It is only just 6 parts, but it might need its seam welded for the best look to it. The yellow part I will put in last one I decide what my route is going to be with this kit.

The hyper bazookas trigger area can move, that part is put together in two pieces (I had a photo of it in two pieces before I put them together must of been deleted some how). Then the exhaust port thing I think it is goes on the back and the gun barrel goes on the front. That top piece pretty goes on the top.

The shield does not have much to it. It does have the peg for attaching to the back and the handle moves. Cause the grey piece has a little grove in it that allows it to rotate in it.

The head is interesting cause of the clear eye part they give you and the fact the sticker sheet has options for the eyes on it. I barely ever look at sticker sheets, but it was what got me looking at it.

It has these two silver pieces that go on the red section of the head.

Easy Shiny eyes, I am glad I do not have to paint back there for once. I normally do paint it for this type of effect, when I am dealing with clear eyes. Then I would paint around it black.

With them in the head it looks like this.

And after all of that, it is all together.

This model poses very well, check out these photos with the Origin Char’s Zaku II.

After all of the RX-78-2’s that I have built which only leaves out the 3.0 and the RG. This is one of my favorites now. The G30th is also another one of mine. But I think I like this one just as much. The possibility is pretty crazy on this kit. The G30th has way more panel lines on it, but this ones look has that TV look to it. It is the thing that sold me on the MG RX-78-2 2.0. If the revive line keeps delivering kits like these. I will be really mad when they stop making them like this, lol.
