RG Build Strike ~thoughts on it

While working on this kit, I did encounter a few issues. It was nothing really during the build it self. I encountered most of my issues during posing. The most frequent ones were the old problems that one encountered with the RG Aile Strike. Yunno, the front skirts popping off, the back skirts mimicking the front skirts, and of course the pack back weight issue. Of course it has its new issues due to the new parts. The feet are pegged in using a weird sort ankle joint that makes it taller then the RG Strike Gundam. The feet popping off in the middle of posing it and the foot flying off at the ankle joint certainly did not help matters.  That happened more times then it should of.  The arms some how got really weak. But I think it occurred though cause I decided to to try the out beam rifle only to find it was just to heavy for it. Old Arms frame failure aside….

Got it to pose with the weapon closer to the body.  I only did that sort of pose once. I didn’t want to risk it wrecking the arm even more. The base Build Strike is pretty good. It is just when you add the bulkier attachments. Things become really limited of what you can do with it.

I didn’t forget that it uses Advanced MS Joint 3 frame (this is the inner frame, you place the armor pieces on) from the RG Aile.

But before this kit came out they had put out the RG 00 Qan[T] (pictured above), it uses the same inner frame that the RG Exia uses with of course its own frame parts for new arms for it. Thus improving stability of it when it wields that large buster sword, not to mention it comes with a stand to aid in protecting the joints in the arm holding that weapon. The RG Build Strike Full Package comes with nothing like this. I feel like it got the RG Sinanju treatment though (it is not as bad as that could be). It looks great, but the problem is it uses a frame with no supporting updates on it for heavier equipment it wields. I did most of my shots with it using the just beam rifle part. That was cause there was not much I could do with the enhanced beam rifle on it. I think I would of been able to get more out of it if it had a separate runner with new a arm mold with the equipment more in mind for the Build Strike. Nope, nothing like that there. Just old arms. So it was like building the RG aile Strike with a few different parts. So naturally it as all the same flaws. Normally if I like a kit enough. I will build as many times as I can to learn more about it. Nah, I’m not that impressed by this one. Some kits aren’t just meant for some people. This one was not up my alley.

A little bit free from work.

My current job has been taken up a lot of my time these days but I do have some updates on models I have been working on. The RG Wing Gundam EW I started spray painting it a couple weeks back. I went with Italian Red for the red and a Dark Blue. I ended up running out of Dark Blue. So I am waiting to get more of it.

MG Exia, I ended starting up to relieve stress from work. I did encounter the loose joint problem with the ankles. I managed to stiffen joints there. I did paint most of the kit. What remains is the other weapons and pilot figure. Have to get batteries for the GN Drive. Plan on using LEDS for the chest and GN drive.

I will not be able to post as much cause of my job. But I will update when I can and put up finished kits.

The GN Drives and the rest of the RG 00 Gundam

Last time I painted and placed the stickers on the head. I did some work on the GN Drives. The GN Drives have a small grey part the cases the outside of a clear green part. That grey part I painted it gunmetal. The green part I did in a metallic green. The GN Drive itself was spray painted white. Then of course I put on the stickers that go on the GN Drives.

The GN Sword II were painted in gunmetal. The clear parts were painted with a clear blue and I did do a bit of detail on them. The Blades were spray painted white. I did lose some of the stickers that go on these blades. Sometime during my travels between home and work somehow. I might just remove the other stickers.

In natural light.

The rest of the white on the body has been spray painted. I am hung up on the blue at the moment.

I am trying to give a look sort of like it has in Extreme Vs. Full Boost. I am just not sure what color or brand will give me my desired effect I am after.

1/144 Scale REAL GRADE 00 Raiser – Head and inner frame.

In the midst of my work on the Ez-8. I did start work on the RG 00 Raiser. The 00 Raiser is actually 2 models in one package. The mobile suit 00 Gundam and the plane fighter like 0 Raiser. The two actually combine together to make the 00 Raiser.

So far I have done some head work and have painted up the body. The inside of the head is done in Gunmetal and the Eyes were done in a layer of black, then I did a metallic over the raised eye areas. Then I went over that spot with a clear green.

The body is all gunmetal over german grey. I placed the green stickers on the GN Condenser sections. I’m glad that removing all the armor off of this is easy, lol.

1/144 SCALE RG MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam from Otaku Mode

I am restarting my Real Grade Gundam collection. I used to have a quite a bit of them, but bills occurred and I ended up parting with all of my Real Grade kits. The RG Zeta is the 1st kit that arrived of that project. I managed to snag this at decent price from a shop called Otaku Mode. I actually came across the shop through my usual browsing through the web. I spotted a good deal and decided to try this place out. The shipping actually was not that bad on my order. Usually shipping costs from the west coast make me cringe. The Zeta Gundam was shipped in good a pace and it just arrived today.

The box it arrived in is a clam shell box. But it was taped up very well and did not feel like the kit traveled free to break itself.

Upon opening a box I am greeted by this nice manila folder with a message on it. Thanking me for my purchase. But that is not all it was.

There is also a nice artwork of a maid on back of it, a postcard, and a button inside. I actually did not expect any of that to be inside of the package. The quality of the items is actually not too bad for freebies.

The Zeta was snugly packaged in bubble wrap and was secured pretty well in there. It was not like I deal with 20 layers protective wrap to get it out. Also was glad it was not shipped bare like some sellers I have purchased from have done to me.

The box has no signs of damage and I did look inside no broken parts either. I do have referral link that gets you $5 off a purchase from them. You also get $10 bonus for signing up through this link.

They do sell items other then models as well. So feel free to check it out. Let me know about your experience.
